Friday Top 10: Things To Come Out Of San Diego Comic-Con

It has been a few weeks since the dust has settled on this year’s installment of Comic-Con. Thousands flood San Diego once a year in July to immerse themselves in nerd culture at its finest. From amazing cosplay and contests to panels and teasers it is really a fantastic event . Every year we get a very welcome infusion of teasers for comics, movies and TV shows coming in the next few years. Today we will count down our top ten things to come out of Comic-Con this year.

10. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
The first trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road came out with a bang. A new generation is about to be introduced to the epic trilogy that helped to define a lot of childhoods. Tom Hardy takes on the mantle of Mad Max. Charlize Theron co-stars in this epic. Fans of the original trilogy are excited for the latest installment in the franchise, which looks nothing short of epic. Take a look at the first trailer here.

9. Wonder Woman: first look
After months of waiting on edge we got our first look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The costume looks fantastic. Wonder Woman takes on a different look than most fans expected originally, but people seem to be embracing the look quite well. It’s nice to see that while Wonder Woman looks fantastic, she is not overly sexualized and looks like a capable warrior, holding a sword and looking menacing. A true warrior. What do you think? Take a look at the picture and comment below what you think!

8. Godzilla 2 (TBD)
Legendary Films confirmed rumors at Comic-Con that there will be in fact a Godzilla 2. Last year when they made the surprise announcement that the film had been made, there was plenty of buzz. The film ended up being a great success. No word yet on who the monsters will be, but there is plenty of speculation.

7. Constantine (TV Series, NBC, Fall 2014)
Matt Ryan is John Constantine. The popular DC character has been once again adapted for live action, however, this time it is for TV. Exorcist and master of the dark arts, John Constantine is in a constant battle to fight demons on earth. Based on the popular comic series Hellblazer this hero fights the paranormal to protect the world. Check out the debut trailer here.

6. Interstellar debut trailer.
Christopher Nolan is back directing after he concluded the EPIC Dark Knight trilogy. Interstellar is a sci-fi story where a wormhole is discovered that allows man to reach parts of space thought previously impossible. Interstellar is directed by Christopher Nolan from a script written by his brother, John Nolan, based on the theories of physicist Kip Thorne. You can check out the trailer here. Interstellar comes out November 7, 2014.

5. Last of Us: Movie announcement.
One of the most popular games of last year is being adapted into a movie. Gamers and movie fans have been frothing at the mouth since the original announcement just a few days ago. Fan casting are running wild and everyone seems eager to know when we can expect it. Spiderman trilogy director Sam Raimi is producing the movie and early rumors are that he is trying to get Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams to star as Ellie. No word on any kind of release date, but over the next while I am sure we will hear a lot more of what is to come.

4.  Family Guy/ The Simpsons crossover episode 5 minute preview. (FOX, September 28, 2014)
We have known for months that a crossover episode of the two greatest animated families was coming, but just this week we finally got our first look at what to expect from the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover. The Griffins find themselves in Springfield and become friends with the Simpsons. Details on how everything happens are being kept secret until the episode airs, however they released a 5 minute look into what you will see. Fans of both shows are excited of what kind of trouble the two families could get into. Check out the extended look below.

3. Marvel Panel
The Avengers set the bar very high with fan expectations after the first movie came out. With the additions of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and the recently announced The Vision, Age of Ultron has everything fans want to see in terms of action. With James Spader playing Ultron we can expect nothing less than a brilliant performance and at the very least an extremely memorable villain.  Unfortunately no “leaked footage” from the Marvel panel has surfaced as of yet but we should expect a trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron in the coming months.

Marvel also announced that they would be making Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Which is big news as rumors of the new Avengers movie will have an immediate tie in with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Avengers 3.

Speaking of Avengers 3, at the end of the Marvel panel the rumors on who would be playing Thanos were put to rest as it was confirmed (by him walking on stage) that Josh Brolin will indeed be the man behind the Infinity Gauntlet. The moment gave comic book geeks everywhere chills. See the moment here.

2. DEADPOOL: Leaked Test Footage
This was something that almost no one saw coming. Since X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out, X-Men fans have been frothing at the mouth for a movie starring Deadpool. While there are no immediate plans that we know of for this film, we have seen the test footage. We know that someone is considering it. Ryan Reynolds has said on several occasions that he wants this movie to be made and he wants it to be R-rated. Fans of the character would surely agree that this is the only route to take the movie to be true to the character, however now that Disney owns Marvel it may be a tricky situation. You can see the (NSFW) test footage in HD here.

1. Batman Vs Superman teaser trailer. (Spring 2016)
This movie is still being filmed and is not coming out for another two years, but it has already stolen the show for the next little while. Last year we got the epic announcement that the sequel to Man of Steel was not Man of Steel 2 (2017/18) but Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. You can see last year’s announcement here (warning: will send chills down your spine)

The  teaser trailer is nowhere to be found at this point but we expect it to be released publicly soon. A very basic re-recreation of the trailer has been made with toys. You can see that below, as well as a screen shot from the actual trailer of Batfleck wearing what can only be deemed as Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns Armor.
