It’s that time of year once again, where people from all walks of life gather to celebrate the future of comics, movies, TV, and the greatness that is “nerd culture”. San Diego Comic-Con 2014 opened officially today. We are going to preview a few of the events that I am most looking forward to.
– 24: Live Another Day Panel.
24: LAD just wrapped up its short-lived twelve episode stint to both fan and critical approval. In a recent update to the schedule it was released that Jack Bauer himself (Keifer Sutherland) is going to be appearing on the panel fueling rampant speculation that they are set to announce another season of 24.
– Hasbro: Transformers
Hasbro is going to be debuting a preview for the new TV series Transformers: Robots in Disguise set to hit airwaves early 2015. There could also be an announcement of a new Transformers movie, however, there is no mention of Michael Bay being in attendance, so the chances are slim at this point.
– HALO: Nightfall – first look
343i is set to preview the new live action Halo series today and has fans of the game franchise on the edge of their seats waiting to see just how great this can be.
– Sony Pictures Entertainment
Funny man Jack Black is set to appear alongside Sony to talk about his new movie, adapted from the R.L. Stine books; Goosebumps (2015).
– Batman 75:
2014 marks the seventy-fifth year that the Dark Knight has graced the pages of comics and has become one of the best known characters in history. DC will be doing an extended look back at some of our favourite moments from Batman and possibly a glimpse into what’s next for the Caped Crusader.
– Goonies: Never Say Die
Richard Donner’s announcement that there will in fact be a sequel to the hit film The Goonies has left fans foaming from the mouths for information. The cast of the sequel will be taking part in the panel and we may just get our first exclusive look at a trailer.
–Sharknado 2: The Second One
Tara Reid returns to this cult classic sequel which is set to make its world debut at Comic-Con this year. This time it’s set in New York. Get your chainsaws ready, this is going to be a disaster!
These are just a few of the many highlights to take place on day one of Comic-Con this year. There are way more coming with a lot of surprises to be revealed. Today is the first day of the show. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday get a lot better. What twists and turns will we see? Who will drop the biggest news? Can anyone top the bomb that Zach Snyder dropped on us last year in announcing Batman vs Superman? Time will tell.
